Dr. Kenneth Carson
Dr. Kenneth Carson is a practicing physician and recognized expert in the area of real-world evidence generation. After medical school graduation at the University of Southern California, he completed residency training in internal medicine at Duke University and fellowship training in hematology and medical oncology at Northwestern University. Later, as a faculty member at Washington University in St. Louis, he received a PhD in public health from the University of Illinois. During his time as a Wash U faculty member, he developed and mentored a research team that used the large national databases from the department of Veterans Affairs to investigate treatment patterns and outcomes in patients with cancer and pre-cancerous conditions. Based upon this research success, he became chief of hematology and oncology at the St. Louis VA medical center. Five years ago, he transitioned the majority of his time to industry, working first at Flatiron Health in New York, and later at Tempus Labs in Chicago, where he is currently Vice-President of Clinical Solutions. Both Flatiron and Tempus are major players in the rapidly growing industry of real-world data in oncology. Today, in addition to seeing patients every week at Rush University, Dr. Carson works with a variety of pharmaceutical and provider stakeholders to solve major challenges in oncology drug development.
