Christian Patze
Christian Patze, PhD, joined M Ventures in October 2016 and is currently a Principal in the Performance Materials Fund. In this role, he is investing in early-stage companies in the materials and tech space with a focus on the semiconductor and display industries. Previously, he was working for the Inhouse Consulting group at Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany where he conducted various projects with a focus on strategy development and project management in the business sectors Life Science and Performance Materials. Prior to that, he was in strategic marketing of Air Liquide Germany, developing a new sales channel for the small customer segment.
Christian studied chemistry in Heidelberg (Germany) and Sheffield (UK) and obtained a PhD working with BASF SE on new host materials for blue phosphorescent OLEDs as well as soluble TADF emitters. He also holds an MBA from Collège des Ingénieurs in Paris (France). Christian is based in Darmstadt.

Stefan is a veterinarian and has worked on porcine intestinal health and herd health management since 2007. Originally from Romania, he achieved his PhD in Ireland, working on porcine health biomarkers and digestive health. Post PhD, he worked in research with Teagasc in Ireland, on porcine gut-microbiota interactions in relation to pig growth.
His interests include intestinal physiology and the "Health through nutrition" concept as well as applying LEAN Six Sigma to research projects.
Stefan is currently working as an R&D Project Manager for Tonisity, being in charge of trial management and statistical analysis, data mining/visualisation, and interpretation of results.
Jack Garrett
Jack Garrett has held the position of Director of Technical Service and Research for Quali Tech, Inc., since 2007. In his current position his responsibilities include domestic and international technical support of all product lines and research on existing and new product development. His career research efforts have focused on improving cow performance during transition, enhancing reproductive performance, meat and milk enrichment with omega-3 fatty acids, and overall benefits of feed additives for all livestock, poultry and companion animals, resulting in co-authoring 23 refereed articles, 4 book chapters, 40 technical articles and 40 abstracts. He received his BS at Colorado State University and PhD from the University of Minnesota in 1985. Upon completion of his PhD, he worked for the University of Minnesota, College of International Ag Programs, where he taught and conducted livestock research in Morocco, North Africa. Jack has been a member of the American Registry of Professional Animal Scientists since 1990 and a member of the American College of Animal Science since 1996. In AFIA, he served on the Nutrition Council, Executive Council and Nutrition Action Committee and served as chairman of the Dairy Research Committee. He has served as a board member for the Midwest division of American Dairy Science Association, President of American College of Animal Science from 2011-2012 and President of American Registry of Professional Animal Scientists from 2014-2015. Jack grew up in Southern Colorado and resides in Colorado with his wife, Barbara, and they have three grown sons, Zachary, Sam and Joel.
